How does the App-Search work?
As short preamble, what it's intended for: to find "permission-friendly apps". For example a calendar app which doesn't want to access the Internet will, or a photo app which does not want to "go shopping" (in-app purchases). Though it also works the other way around, to e.g. find apps requiring a certain permission.
The search mask
If you read this help page, you certainly have already found it:
As usual with a search, you start defining the criteria:
- Chose between one and five categories. Hint: sub-categories will automatically be included (in the example screenshot, selecting "Religion" would automatically include Christianity, Islam, and Judaism).
- Chose at least one permission (to view a category unfiltered, it's easier to go via the tab labeled "App-Lists").
- Chose whether the apps should come without the selected permissions ("exclude"), or require at least one of them ("include").
- Optionally restrict results to “free only” or “paid only”.
- Optionally chose the up-to-dateness of the apps.1
- Chose how results should be ordered.2
- Submit the search.
Search results
This view should be pretty self-explaining:
- Selected categories, …
- … permission …
- … and sort criteria are initially displayed, and followed by the …
- … list of results, displayed similar to the category lists.

Refers to the last release of an app (see also next point). Please note that not all apps are updated daily here – so there might already be new updates available but not yet recorded in our database. ↩︎

When ordering by last update date note that this date is not provided by Aptoide currently. So an app only listed there appears “older than it is”. ↩︎
